CHME352 – Process Design for Environmental Applications

Course description

In this course, three important heterogeneous processes, namely, adsorption, ion exchange and catalysis, are presented along with their environmental applications. The course is design to extend the students’ knowledge on the heterogeneous diffusion-driven fluid-solid operations and then focus on their environmental applications in gaseous emissions and wastewater treatment.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe air and water pollution phenomena.
  2. Design catalytic systems for air pollution control.
  3. Design adsorption and ion exchange systems for wastewater treatment.

Course Outline

In this course students will learn about: pollution abatement technologies; heterogeneous processes and reactor analysis.
